2018 NLTCBMBC Bike Check

If it ain't broke don't fix it. That's what they say. So we didn't fix it, we just got more of the good stuff and freshened it up for 2018. Here's the lowdown on what we'll be racing on this year.

Standert Umlaufbahn

The frame: Standert Umlaufbahn

This is the second year we'll be riding Standert frames. The Ep3 models have been released this season and feature the same aggressive geometry and race ready features like oversized chain stays and tapered steerer, but with added sparkle flake in the paint and smooth finished welds. Spin on These

The wheels: Spin On These Fat Boys

We got in touch with Drew (The Spin Meister) back in 2016 when we were looking for suitable wheels for the team. At the time he didn't make fixed hub wheels, but he was really keen to learn more about fixed gear crits after sampling the action at the 2016 Nocturne.

He quickly made us a test pair in time for Red Hook Crit London 2 and the rest is history. We were hooked on the wheels, Drew was hooked on fixed crits and now Spin On These Fat Boys are one of the most popular wheels in the fixed crit peloton. Perfectly balanced and super-wide rims (28mm!) make cornering a dream and help give us the edge on those skinny wheeled rivals who can't find the grip we can on the most demanding corners.

Selle San Marco

The saddle: Selle San Marco

A new addition to our bikes this year are our Selle San Marco saddles. We've been testing the various shapes and sizes that they offer and each ThunderCat has found something to fit their sit bones. The DiMa guide really helped narrow down the choices and some quick tests helped us make our final decisions. The Aspide model has proved to be the most popular within the team.

Wahoo

The data: Wahoo

This year we've joined forces with Wahoo to get the team racing and training to their full potential. Starting with their Elemnt and Elemnt Bolt computers (linked to a Tickr heart rate monitor along with their wireless cadence and speed sensors) we can track our training and races with more accurate detail than before. The app based computer is really easy to use and the customisable features have made these units a firm favourite within the team.

Muc Off

The maintainence: Muc-Off

It's no good having all these quality parts if they aren't being maintained properly so we've teamed up with Muc-Off to keep our rides clean and drivetrain working to its optimal performance. As an added bonus they have a great range of biodegradable products that we're using, so our bikes can be even more eco-friendly and extra shiny.
